“ Came in to get some jelly donuts during Hanukkah at the suggestion of someone on Reddit. I'm not Jewish but I do love a good donut, and I was not disappointed. They were the size of my hand and nicely filled and much better than the sufganiyot I can get from the Jewish deli in my neighborhood. I work a stop away once a week so I'll be back to try other stuff. ”
“ Really enjoyed their rugelach and their chocolate-babka swirl bun. While this ain't Oneg Bakery, it's still very, very good. So fudgy and fresh and would stop by for a rugelach when I'm back in the neighborhood. ”
“ Chaim the manager is amazing. The food is delicious. Even a couple days later the pastry is still tasted fresh. Every time I walk in the people that smile and are nice and cheerful. The homeless lady beggar outside is pretty much harmless. ”
“ Such a cute little bakery with an enormous selection of absolutely delicious homemade baked goods! They have the most amazing donuts and cookies and my only regret is that I didn't snag more! This is a great place to stop in to pick up pastries for the house or on the go--and the line moves very fast so you'll be in and out quickly! There's not anywhere to sit, so don't expect to sit down to snack, but it's not the vibe you expect when you walk in either. They're open every day but Saturday so make sure you stop by to try it! I can't wait to come back! ”
“ What a great experience here, even if it was just for some coffee and a blueberry muffin. My friends and I were in Crown Heights for the day and this was one of our morning stops. After I ate my muffin, I was sure we should make some additional stops here. (lol). It's nice not having to worry where you're going to put your car. We parked on Eastern Parkway and were walking around the area. This is a small shop packed with many amazing items. Many items are in front right by the big windows. There was obviously a few glass cabinets with many other items inside as well as the shelves behind the counter. There is a very pleasant staff here which I always appreciate. So, before you make the trip, here are a few of the items you can start to think about... Doughnuts, Rugelach, Strudel, Pie, Babka, Cookies, Muffins (I like the Blueberry and of course challah. KUDOs to the team at Gombo's Heimishe Bakery. ”
“ Fantastic service, quick grab-and-go lunch sandwich bar. Check it out for yourself. Also, daily assortment of fresh pastries and Jewish Rugalech. Friday's theirs wide variety of Challah bread. Check out their fantastic sourdough Challah. ”
“ This place is amazing! A true taste of a real Eastern European bakery in the US. Made me feel right at home, like I stepped into a Hungarian bakery. Everything here is absolutely delicious!!! A very nice variety as well, plenty options to choose from. The hardest part will be not walking out with one of each. The people behind the cashier are also always pleasant and it's a great experience overall. A must from now on every time I hit the City. ”
“ For weeks, I've stared longingly through this storefront. For weeks, I've walked in and perused the shelves filled with decadent looking treats. Finally, I couldn't resist any longer. I walked in and looked over the plethora of options. Donuts, rugelach, cinnamon rolls, challahs, cookies, coffee cake, mandelbrodt. All of my favorite things. I chose one of the dairy donuts. It was covered in chocolate and vanilla icing and stuffed with dulce de leche. Of course the sugar and the icing were delicious. But, the real stunner here is the actually chewy doughy texture of the donut itself. It was moist and possibly the best yeasted donut I've ever had. I also purchased a chocolate roll up sort of item, resembling a rugelach, but much longer and flakier. It was good, but I probably would've preferred a nice fresh rugelach. I am sure it didn't help that after the donut I couldn't stuff my face any further, so I ate it the next day at my desk. The store is mostly self service in terms of most of the baked goods and the regular coffee. Specialty coffees, bagels, and other savory items come from the staff behind the counter. They were very lovely, but a bit tangled up with the couple in front of me who kept adding additional things to their order. There's very casual seating inside the shop, of which I took advantage. All of the seating kind of blocks some of the merchandise, c'est la vie. As I scooched to get out of someone's way, she stopped to gush over how much she loves this shop. It was so lovely to know that the locals love it there too. It's a fun mix to see hasidim and hipsters playing nice in the same bakery. I shouldn't come back, because donuts. But, I probably won't be able to resist the draw TBH. ”
“ Nestled near the epicenter of the Lubavitcher Hasidim's Worldwide HQ, this kosher bakery delivers divinely inspired goods. The sweet cheese filled pastry I had stopped me in my tracks. It had the perfeect carmelized encrusted topping and a not-to-sweet but tart filling.. It is literally the best cheese filled pastry Ive ever had and it was fresh- dill on the bakery rack. The owner is friendly and welcoming. The only labels are "dairy" so it's a little hard to figure out some of the items but I haven't had anything not worth tasting yet. Hopefully they can add names and prices to their goods but as long they make them so delicious, I'll keep coming back anyway. ”
